Professional in-office teeth whitening typically takes around 60 minutes. Your Calgary dentist will first cover up your lips and gums, exposing only your teeth. Next, a hydrogen peroxide gel will be applied to your teeth and then exposed to a special LED light, which activates the gel to work to break apart the carbon bonds that create that staining or discolouration. The entire process will then be repeated 3-4 times for best results. At Redstone Smiles Dental we also offer professional take-home whitening kits. For this treatment, you will take home, and wear custom created plastic trays filled with hydrogen peroxide gel over your teeth for 30 minutes, twice a day. Results with take-home whitening kits can vary between individuals, although most patients see results in only one to two weeks.
